Bangladesh Nationalist Party - BNP was founded on September 1, 1978 on the basis of Bangladeshi Nationalism, an ideology that
recognizes the right of Bangladeshis from all walks of life, irrespective of their ethnicity, gender or race.

The name of this party will be 'Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Dal'. In English, this organization will be called 'Bangladesh Nationalist Party' (BNP) and in short this party will be called 'Nationalist Party' and 'BNP'. The national office and central headquarters of this party is located in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. and the organization of the headquarters or central office of the party shall be under the responsibility of the chairman and the titles, responsibilities and powers of the various officers of the office shall be determined by the chairman himself.

industrial circle. From the point of this circle at the junction of red and green, a row of golden rice grains will extend
upwards. Above the rice grain will be a white star. Green is the symbol of the country; Red is the symbol of freedom war and

self-sufficiency in food and the white star is the symbol of our national hopes and aspirations.

Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam (1936-1981) was the founder of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He was the declarer of independence and a valiant freedom fighter. He was also Chief of Army Staff and later became the elected President of Bangladesh. He opened up multi-party democracy in Bangladesh and defined Bangladeshi Nationalism.
Begum Khaleda Zia (Born: 15 August 1946) is the chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP who served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh three times since 1991. She is the first woman to be elected as the prime minister of Bangladesh, and second in the Muslim world.
Tarique Rahman (Born: 20 November 1967) is the Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP. He previously served as the Senior Vice-Chairman and Senior Joint Secretary of the party.
